Vacation Time

I’ve been back a week but haven’t shared anything!
We went to the beach 3 hours driving away. It’s a quiet little town on the coast of Virginia that my husband and I love. It was our first real vacation with Bubs. I think not living near family eased my travel fears. We do this often enough to know what we need to bring, what we can leave, and how to live without whatever didn’t make it into a bag.

Necessities: Clothes, sunscreen, easy to clean and pack toys, shoes, food and snacks, diapers and wipes, tylenol/motrin just in case, carrier and umbrella stroller.

If we didn’t bed share, I’d amend that list to include a packNplay and that’s it. I can’t think of anything else! Since we haven’t flown yet, I think we can get away with not bringing a lot of things.

Bubs did okay in the car ride. There were tears, but I guess that’s to be expected of a 15 month old who needs to be involved in everything.

Bubs did not do okay with the sand. He straight up hated the sand. He stood there and didn’t move a muscle. He also hated the ocean. Cried the entire time we were in the water. It wasn’t cold. It was refreshing.

By the end of our trip, Bubs was eating handfuls of sand. I couldn’t get him to stop and can’t get him to eat like that at any meal time ever.
The good news is he slept great the entire time. I think he was so wiped from all the activities. He came home and has slept like garbage ever since. What else is new?

  1. Our youngest ate sand last year while on holiday. She was 10 months old and loved it. When we moved her off the sand onto the picnic blanket she even found sand on her feet and ate that. Didn’t do her any harm, haha! This year, she much prefers playing with it, and we much prefer letting her. 🙂 xx

That’s really good to hear! I was so worried with the amount he ingested. I can’t imagine it tastes good.
