Preparing for a new baby is an exciting time. You’re filled with so many emotions and you head right to search the internet to find out everything you need to do to get through pregnancy.
I just delivered our second child, a daughter, in November. With our son, I spent most of the time searching for every new feeling, looking for the right foods to eat, and worrying over every thing my mind could think of.
Throughout this pregnancy, I had a lot of worry (because I’m a mom and that’s what we do) but I also knew what to expect and had my favorite go-to items ready to go.
Here are my top five pregnancy items that I went right back to when I discovered I was pregnant.
Top 5 Items To Help Prepare For Baby
I actually never stopped taking my Nature Made® Prenatal Multi + DHA vitamins. You can start taking it before you are pregnant if you are trying and continue to take it while you breastfeed. Part of preparing for baby is taking care of your body with a good diet and a daily prenatal. Sam’s Club current offers a 5 month supply of my favorite prenatal vitamins making my already hectic life easier!
Nature Made provides essential vitamins and minerals (before and during pregnancy) including Folic Acid, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Iodine, Vitamin B12, and Vitamin D3†. Nature Made provides 200 mg DHA which may also help support fetal brain and eye development. †
The best part of my prenatal vitamins is only having to take one pill to also get the DHA. I have had to take so much more medicine this time around that I’m happy my daily prenatal was just one pill.
You can shop for Nature Made® Prenatal Multi + DHA at your local Sam’s Club!
For my pregnancy with my son, I waited as long as I physically could to change into those super comfortable stretchy maternity pants. I would do that hair tie trick daily with my work pants and jeans and walk around like I was winning an award for being so uncomfortable in my “regular” clothes.
In my second trimester, I went in for an appointment with my doctor and got ready to get measured. I mentioned before my back had started hurting. He said “Well stop doing the hair tie thing and get maternity pants!”
I don’t think the pregnancy test was dry this time before I broke out the leggings and full panel pants I had under my bed. You deserve comfort!
Morning Sickness Remedies
If you’re a unicorn without morning sickness you can skip this section.
But if you’re like me, you just try to survive in any way you can. For my pregnancy with my son, I survived on salt and vinegar chips. Many women rely on ginger, crackers, and some even need medication from their doctor to get through the day.
Whatever is working for you and getting you through morning sickness, continue doing it and just stock up. Even if it’s macaroni and cheese at 7am.
At a certain point in pregnancy, sleeping just becomes so uncomfortable that you begin to wonder if you’ll ever sleep again with a new baby on the way.
A good body support pillow will help make the sleep you are getting more restful and more comfortable. The body pillow will help cradle your growing body while you sleep. I really couldn’t live without mine during the last two months.
I stress support for everything related to pregnancy and baby.
From your doctor, to your partner, to family and friends, lean on others for support. Pregnancy and taking care of a baby can be a difficult, emotional, and isolating time.
When I was pregnant with my son in 2014, I found an online group of moms due the same month. We’re still together today and I can’t imagine being without them. For my pregnancy with my daughter, I once again went back to find a group of moms due the same month I was to go through pregnancy together.
