May 18 is National Learn to Swim Day . Here’s how to teach kids to be confident in the water this summer!
This post was sponsored by SwimWays as part of an Ambassador Program for Influence Central and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.
With summer upon us, I love highlighting the importance of teaching kids to swim and helping them be confident in the water.
We’re big on swimming in pools. We’re a few hours from the ocean so we make the most of our pool for relief from the heat and water fun.
My 4 year old has been swimming since we first started lessons when he was just a year old. He’s always a little fearful of the water at first but soon becomes one with the water and it’s hard to get him out!
We love using our SwimWays products! Last year, SwimWays helped us introduce the water to our then six month old daughter. This year, I’m so happy to once again team up with SwimWays to bring you more information on water safety and highlighting their International Learn to Swim Day campaign!
How to Teach Kids to be Confident in the Water
Teaching kids to be confident in the water is an essential life skill.
Here are a few ways you can help your child become confident in the water this summer:
- Splash around in the bath!
- Sign up for lessons.
- Use games in the water! We love to get a wiffleball and chase after it.
- Make sure the water is warm.
- Get in and splash around with your kids! Seeing mom and dad having fun will help your child feel more at ease.
I also love to get my kids comfortable with the gear we’re using. I’ll let my son look at, touch, play with and try on his new SwimWays Paw Patrol Swim Trainer at home to avoid any confusion at the pool.
